A friend of mine asked me to knit a cowl for her and so I chose Smooth Edge and the yarn, 50/50 Silk Merino DK, and she requested a specific color to go with her winter coat. I loved the way it turned out! It's so squishy and soft. The silk in the yarn really shows off the color and brightens it up. But the best part, is that she LOVES it :)

Knit Local
Yesterday evening, I ventured into DC and went to one of my favorite LYS's, Looped, for a book signing and got the chance to meet the brilliant author of Knit Local, Tanis Gray! She first noticed the cowl I was wearing and loved it. She's SO fun and ridiculously talented, I had to get her book! All I have to say is that it's genius, combining talented American knitwear designers with sustainable, local yarn and fiber companies. It's a definite go to book and an excellent read! By the way, if you haven't checked out her designs, you MUST. Some of my favorite are the Appalachian Hat, Grand Palais Shawl, Lodi Cardigan, and the Entwined Cowl.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Custom Colorway
So, a friend contacted me and asked me to knit a cowl for her similar to the Big Herringbone Cowl I've knitted for myself. However, she wanted a silvery off-white, antique color; so I searched for inspiration, and I don't know why this spoke to me....maybe just wanting an afternoon drink!!...but fell in love with the color of Brandy Milk Punch, a hugely popular and might I say POTENT drink in New Orleans.
Wow!! It's absolutely gorgeous!! I'm in love...(sigh). It just might become a repeatable colorway...what do you think?

Knitting with Susan B. Anderson
Toys were the first thing I learned to knit and find them SO fun. Recently, I took an online course in toy knitting with Susan B. Anderson and since I already had her book Itty Bitty Toys, I immediately had to sign up! I learned to knit a toy completely seamlessly and picked up some other new techniques along way. The first toy knitted was the elephant and cannot wait to start knitting the others. However, for the others I think I'm going to use Spud & Chloe.
